Two Types of Documents The PERB Database System indexes and searches two types of documents, Single file and Multi-file Documents. Those files that are "born electronically" are most often single file documents. Documents that have been scanned from paper generally are converted into multi-file documents. The type of document you are viewing will determine the way in which you browse documents. If you are viewing a multi-file document, you will notice you have the capability to skip to the next or previous page in addition to the next or previous document. A single-file document is one long page, therefore the need to skip pages is non-existent. The Databases make it easy to browse multi-file documents by allowing you to move freely among pages or type in the exact page numer you wish to view.
